General Policies

We are parents, too!  We understand how a preschool's policies can impact your child and your family. The Boroughs JCC regularly reviews and updates our policies, with input from teachers and parents, to ensure that we are focusing on the needs and well-being of the children in our care, as well as their families.

Snow Days

The Boroughs JCC Preschool makes delay and cancellation decisions following the Westborough Public Schools.  You can find out the status of the Boroughs JCC Preschool on snowy days by checking our website.

Cancellation

If the Westborough Public Schools are closed, the Boroughs JCC Preschool will be closed.  This includes early drop off and extended day enrichment programs.

1 Hour Delay

If the Westborough Public Schools have a 1-hour delay, the Boroughs JCC Preschool policy is to:
  • Start one hour later than normal (9:45 am & 10:00 am)
  • Cancel Early Drop Off
  • End at normal pickup times
  • Hold extended day enrichment programs

2 Hour Delay

If the Westborough Public Schools have a 2-hour delay, the Boroughs JCC Preschool policy is to:
  • Start two hours later than normal (10:45 am & 11:00 am)
  • Cancel Early Drop Off
  • Cancel Morning Toddler Programs
  • End Preschool and KEFF programs at normal pickup times
  • Hold extended day enrichment programs

Special Considerations

If attendance is unusually low due to a 1 Hour or 2 Hour Delay, the Director may elect to combine classes and use a "Camp" program for the day.

Holidays

As part of a Jewish Community Center, the Boroughs JCC recognizes and celebrates Jewish holidays.  With students from many faiths and cultures, we are also sensitive to the needs of our students' families.  Feedback from our parents indicates that too many days off creates difficulties for families with respect to work and childcare. Parents have informed us, that they would rather have their children at the JCC learning about the holiday than in an alternative childcare situation.

To balance respect for the Jewish Holidays and the needs of our families, the Boroughs JCC Preschool will be closed Jewish High Holidays. On other Jewish Holidays, the Boroughs JCC Preschool will be open and will have Festival Days.  Festival Days will have a modified curriculum and class schedule that focuses on the meaning of the holiday.  Festival Days will also be tied to community service and charity in line with the theme of the holiday.

The JCC Preschool will also be closed on Federal and State Holidays.

Outdoor Play

Fresh air and exercise are important parts of our preschool days.  They help children develop motor skills and focus mentally.  As such, we take the children outside everyday, weather permitting.  We closely monitor temperatures, and we always keep an extra set of clothes in the cubbies in case the children need a change of clothes after outdoor play.
