We are pleased to announce the new Boroughs Jewish Community Center’s (BJCC) Enrichment Programs for the 2011/2012 school year. Our goal is to provide high quality programs that allow your child to grow and develop.
We have created these programs to supplement your child’s learning in creative ways. We work with your child to encourage imagination and creativity, build self-confidence and self-esteem, and to give them opportunities to cultivate their unique talents. Trained teachers and specialists lead each program, making your child’s experience a rewarding one.

Children will dance, play musical games, and try all sorts of musical instruments. They will have opportunities to create their own musical instruments, dances, and songs.
Books and Cooks
Books will be brought to life through interactive reading, storytelling, cooking and art. This program will use high-quality children’s literature to help children connect with books in multiple, creative ways beyond the written page. It is also designed to create a foundation for a life-long love of books and cooking.
Creative Crafts
This class will feature visiting art specialists! Children will learn and create a variety of craft projects, from woodworking to beading to painting. Our visiting art specialists will guide students in hands-on art projects. The children will be so proud of their unique creations!
Early Drop Off
Children enjoy educational free play before starting the preschool day. Drop your child off as early as 8:00 am.
FasTracKids
A FasTracKids specialist will help your child discover a life-long love of learning! Your child will enjoy interactive programs that develop key school and life readiness skills, such as creativity, communication, critical thinking and collaboration. Children will learn through exposure to visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning, meeting the needs of various learning styles. FasTracKids incorporates these elements in each structured lesson, providing opportunities for children to experience growth in a theme or subject area while having a great time.
Jewish Traditions
This program is designed for children to develop an understanding of Jewish culture and traditions. Each week, your child will participate in fun-filled, age-appropriate activities centered around Jewish holidays and traditions.
Little Picasso
Join us for a creative adventure! Each week will feature a different medium or art technique. Children will participate in many hands-on activities, including painting, sculpting, drawing and collage. This class encourages self-exploration while learning about a variety of art in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Lunch & Play
Children are grouped by age to eat their lunches with friends. Lunchtime is followed by free play on the outdoor playgrounds and/or in the Big Room. *Please note the Boroughs JCC is a nut free facility.
Nap & Play
Children often need down-time after a fun-filled morning in the preschool. Children will have time to rest on comfortable cots. Those who fall asleep can continue to nap for as long as they need. Those who do not fall asleep or who wake up early will enjoy quiet time with puzzles, books, play-dough and classroom toys, and enjoy some gross-motor free play on the outdoor playgrounds and/or in the Big Room.
Preschool Play
Children will have supervised free time with puzzles, books, play-dough and classroom toys, and also enjoy some gross-motor free play on the outdoor playgrounds and/or in the Big Room.
Science Fridays
The world is your child’s to discover ... and measure. This interactive, hands-on math and science class is designed to foster your child’s curiosity, sense of wonder, and interest in the world. Children will participate in science experiments, observation games, and learn basic problem solving skills. You’ll be amazed with the new found knowledge your child learns each week.
Stage Stars
Let your little star shine! A specialist from Apple Tree Arts will create an unforgettable learning experience. In each session, there are songs to sing, stories to act out and movement activities. Students will also be involved with creating sets, props and costumes. Allowing students to explore and experience all of these areas creates an appreciation and understanding of theater.
Teamworks
Olympic dreams begin! Your child will have instruction in both tennis and swimming at the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club right next door! Our staff will walk the children to the Tennis and Swim Club and help them get changed into their swimsuits. Red Cross certified swim instructors guide the children through a swim lesson at each child’s individual level. The children also learn the fundamentals of tennis, developing gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination and confidence. This program is designed to run all school year, with half of the year focused on tennis and the other half on swim.
We Can Build It
If your child likes to build and create, this is the class for him or her! Children will create three-dimensional masterpieces using many different materials, such as Duplo Blocks, Lincoln Logs, recycled materials and much more. This class is designed to promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving skills. Watch your child’s self-confidence grow with each creation.
