Dear Boroughs JCC Families, Staff, Friends, and Supporters:

As you know, the Boroughs JCC Executive Board is made up of volunteers - current and former parents - who are passionate about the mission and role of the organization in our community.  That is why this news is especially difficult to share with you all.  It is with deep sadness that I inform you that the Boroughs JCC's Executive Board has decided to close the Boroughs JCC.  This includes the Boroughs JCC Preschool, our current Summer Programs and all other operations.  Our last day of operations will be Friday, July 29, 2016.  Unfortunately, disappointing summer and fall enrollment numbers, coupled with a relatively fixed cost structure, led us to this heart-wrenching decision.

Please know that the leadership of the Boroughs JCC pursued every feasible alternative prior to committing to this painful step.  We have worked very hard over several years to build a first-class Preschool and an organization that played an integral role in the Boroughs community.  We understand, appreciate and regret the logistical, financial, and spiritual challenges this decision will have on our Preschool families, families attending our Summer Programs, our dedicated staff, the Beth Tikvah Synagogue community, our business partners, donors, friends, supporters, and the Boroughs community at-large.  Please know this was a carefully considered decision and not one easily reached.

The Boroughs JCC is a non-profit charitable organization that is dependent on donations and other revenue sources for its viability.  We have exhausted all feasible donation sources.  Our primary source of revenue is tuition from enrollment in the Boroughs JCC Preschool, which, sadly, stands significantly below our expectations for the 2016-2017 school year.  We simply do not have the funds to continue operations.

As part of our wind down, we are in the process of returning registration deposits for the 2016-2017 Preschool year to families via electronic check payments.  Families who have paid registration deposits for the 2016-2017 Preschool year should expect to receive checks for those funds in the mail within approximately ten business days.

Also, thanks to our neighbors at the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club, families with preschool-aged children already registered for the Boroughs JCC Summer Programs starting August 1, 2016 may choose to enroll their children at the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club's Kinder Camp at no additional cost.  Parents will simply need to complete registration paperwork for the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club.  More details will be available on the Boroughs JCC website and at the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club next week (http://www.wtsc.com/summer-sports-camp/contact: Betsy Johnsen:bjohnsen@wtsc.com). We thank Justin Lundberg and the staff of the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club for their generous support to help accommodate our families.

We understand you will have questions and we will do our best to respond as promptly as possible.  We may not have answers to all of your questions right away, but we will endeavor to keep you as informed as possible throughout this process.  We ask for your patience during this difficult period and we will do our best to help families and staff moving forward.

The community center and its associated preschool have been part of the fabric of this community for over 20 years. Thank you to all who have participated, taught, built, volunteered and supported it during its duration.

Please contact me at 508-336-6121 x26 or alternatively at Stephen@boroughsjcc.org with any questions regarding the Community Center, Preschool or Summer Programs.

Sincerely,
Stephen Marmor
