About Festival Days

posted Sep 20, 2010, 8:51 PM by Allen Edinberg
A few parents have asked me what is different about Festival Days at the JCC Preschool.  Rather than closing on these days, the JCC Preschool will be open.  We modify the schedule for the day to enhance the curriculum about the meaning and themes of the holiday. We are also creating opportunities for charity and community service that relate to the message of the holidays.

Our first Festival Day is for Sukkot.  As a harvest festival, the kids will enjoy a snack in the Sukkot in front of the building.  We are also collecting food for area food banks and programs, supporting existing food drives at Congregation B'nai Shalom.

Next week, is Simchat Torah.  To support the theme and importance of continued learning, we are collecting gently used books for area shelters and literacy programs.

Watch for information via email and in the cubbies, and for signs in the lobby.  And, if you have ideas on how we can link charitable and community action to future Festival Days, we welcome your ideas.
